It will depend on the focus of the company
A service agency (social services) may be indicating your will be visiting customers in remote/rural locations.
A sales type company may be indicating you will be working on your own, in your location, remote from the corporate headquarters.
It could also mean you will be assigned to other locations over an extended time - i.e. remote business trips...
If that's the only thing holding you back, go ahead and apply for the job. Then you're in a position to ask lots more questions...

depends if it means the PROJECT is remote, or that YOU will work remote from the project.
1. a remote project means the location is somewhere other than your home town.
2 you working remotely means you don't physically work at the main project location. In these cases, you may actually have some ability to negotiate where you prefer - I don't like to work from home 100% & I do some time in the company's local office & I also occasssionally travel to the project site.
