Not knowing where you are, or what requirements there are for what you seek, I say,,, ask!!!
Certainly it's admirable that you want to persue this, but don't expect it to make you any fantastic income,,,unless perhaps you own a day care center. Going into this field shouldn't be untertaken with money expectations anyway.
That's where I'd begin if I were you, even as a part time intern, and ask what certifications or degrees they require. Here in Central FL, even a private school my daughter attended only wanted certain certs. and those might be available through community college classes,,, IE: Early Childhood Development.
"Working With" doesn't strictly mean that you have to have a PHD in child psychology.
Another thing you have going for you is actually your youth, and ability to relate to young children, in what experiences you do have.
I wouldn't quit my day job yet, if I was you, but certainly get with any of the better day care centers, after school care programs, even Boys/Girls club of America, to check out their mentoring programs.
Once you know what's required by any institution, you can get involved in attaining that. Best wishes.

You should check with daycare providers in your area to find out what's required by law in your city/state. Also ask them if there are particular certifications or anything else that they are looking for. Knowledge of CPR and First Aid will certainly help, but if there are lots of applicants then maybe something like classes in Child Psychology will give you an edge.
Be aware that childcare work pays pretty badly, tends to be stressful and has a very high burnout/turnover rate. Clerical work may be boring but you're in no danger of being sued or having a breakdown from dealing with horrible brats and their parents.

My sister-in-regulation also breeds Chihuahuas and Daschunds and her children were round them because that they were little. maximum persons do exactly not prepare the canines and the youngsters a thanks to have interplay and note of one yet another. They leave the youngsters in the room on my own with the canines and that is a recipe for disaster. the youngsters and the canines should be supervised till the youngster is older aand is popular with a thanks to handle the canines with note of. The canines also needs to be educated, exercised and socialized suited.

If I were you you might need a degree in something that is like teaching or taking care of, you might not get as much as your current job, but the job would obviously be more rewarding. Try it out.
