Trainline are good but check individual companies online - I use the train a lot to travel between Liverpool and Newcastle. It's cheaper if I book through Transpennine rather than Trainline! And I don't know why....
So..GNER, Virgin possibly Transpennine are worth looking at.

It won't be easy. All those Mancs travelling back from the smoke to see City batter the @rse. You'll be wanting police protection both ways. Better to fly, because northerners either couldn't afford it or have never heard of aeroplanes.

national show coaches are particularly much less costly yet take around 6 hours. in case you get an exceedingly early prepare (im speaking like 6amish) you may get it much less costly- i understand somebody who have been given a return to london this saturday for £11.

www.qjump.co.uk is a fairly good site.

Though it's got to be said that at this late stage tickets might be a bit pricey. You could always try the bus:

http://www.megabus.com/uk/
http://www.nationalexpress.com/home/hp.cfm

which will be dirt cheapr but DOES take some time though and isn't too comfortable.

Well you wouldn't need a ticket for the match because city won't want to watch their team get stuffed so the ground will be half empty

ArsAnal vs ManShitty?

I am not sure you need to to go to Manchester to see a thing like that. Have you tried Camden?
