the redskins will defanately wnat to make sure portis is fully healed because if it isn't then his injury may reoccur. its likely that portis will miss 1-2 games at the beginning of the year.

As mentioned above they just want to make sure Portis gets the time needed, and Duckett could be a decent pick-up if you need to replace a back due to a bye one week as he should now get the majority of the goal line TD's now, leaving Portis to go for the long ones now, which immensly hurts his value as most leagues don't score crap for rushing yards.
Perhaps another person this hurts is Ladell Betts, who is a solid runner who I believed was strong enough to fill in for Portis until he got back...Apparently Joe Gibbs & Co. thought differently.

I urge you and others to avoid making Portis your 1st round pick this yr. Its just not worth the risk, especially now that Duckett is in town,he is a goal line hawk and even if Portis is healthy I suspect they will use Duckett at the goal line.
This move was terrible for fantasy football

It's quite possible, but the skins only gave up a 3rd eound pick so that price isn't too high. But I would stay away from Portis if you haven't drafted yet. If you have and you drafted Portis then I wouldn't deal him because you will not get equal value. Keep him and hope for the best.

Duckett should be handling goal-line carries, maybe the Redskins want to avoid Portis getting too banged up.

no just he's out for the preseason but it leaves questions in the regular season if he has really gotten better but it is all about their back ups.
