When Pres. Bush passed the Patriot act..How come there were no riots from the young people on college campuses protesting about their rights? Do you even know what the patriot act is.....?

Yes we are in a cloud of complacency. I think college students were more aware of the issues that were going on in the 1960's than they are now and part of it has to do with the level of apathy. 4 decades ago it was the Civil Rights movement and the Vietnam War. Today it is terrorism and the Patriot Act. The reason there are no protests is because so many students are either not informed and don't care, and/or some students agree with the Patriot Act.

This type of government behavior is made possible by, among other things, the lack of good education, where even highschool kids come out with no critical thinking abilities (or skills beyond shopping and styling their images). Then, at this point in life, it is on to the Credit Cards and the new cars and the getting into debt, along with the general landscape of in your face omnipresent advertising and inticing products and gadgets, et al. So in the mental landscape of today, especially for the up and coming, who don't remember a time before email, where is there room for that kind of reality - that kind of evaluation of the world at large? there isn't.....I think that the terrorist 'threats' account for 90 percent of what kids pay attention to in the world, only because it's in their faces from day to day, and unfortunately they get to hear about it from idiots and extremely biased sources (such as people on Yahoo Answers who make ridiculous points that lack any real substance [go look at the politics section once]).
The system is working out great for american power players, because the majority of people (especially young people) are so distracted with their lattes and their one day sales and buying buying buying spending spending spending, that the reality of the situation the world is in slips by under the radar......it's like.."well, I know there are terrible things happening in the Middle east, and I know that gas prices are going up, but nothing in my life has changed. The mall is still there, Big Macs still cost 2.39, I still have the money to buy basically whatever I want and nobody I know is getting shot or killed, so everything must be fine.....And George Bush looks like a Monkey, doesn't he....ha hah ha" Ignorance will be the death of us, for sure.
