A mother, unmarried or not, cannot stop a father for seeing his children. Unfortunately, a mother IS considered the custodial parent UNTIL the matters are brought before a judge. If you want to see your children, hire a lawyer. At the very least you will granted the state guideline minimum visitation - every other weekend and one day for a few hours during the week. Of course, you and your attorney can ask for more. Don't give up on your children. Good Luck!

It depends on the reasons why no mother married or not should let their child go into danger whether thats a situation or a relationship.
If for example you find out your new boyfriend is a paedophile the mother shouldn't let the child anywhere near him so in that case she would be right, same if the father is abusive or violent.
BUT If the mother is using access to the child as a weapon or for revenge then that is wrong.
This is why the courts can help solve access issues but this is done purely in the childs best interests and not so one parent can score against another

No it's not fair. No one should ever do that. Tell the father to petition the court for visitation. It is a completely different order from child support if this were the problem. In my state, if the couple is unmarried and no one has guardianship or custody she legally cannot keep the child from their father.

If the father is going to be part of the child's life and take financial responsibility then it is not fair. It does depend on the situation with the father, the mother may have valid reasons also for not wanting the father to see the child.

In most cases, no it's not fair. It's using the kid as a pawn against the father. But there are extreme examples where it is better for the child to not have contact with the father. He may have molested the child or be physically or emotionally abusive. In my case I made the ultimatum because I found out that he was smoking crack and then coming to pick up our son to drop him off at his parents to go back out to smoke more crack. My son's life was in jeopardy being in the car and I, at the time, didn't have a car.
But most fathers that want to see their kid are deserving of it and if your ex isn't letting you see your kid for no reason then you need to get a lawyer and make sure you get visitation.
Good luck.

No. And if this is the case, contact an attorney. The only way visitation can be denied is if the father has been convicted of child abuse of some kind. And even then, most courts would allow court supervised visitation.

No, it's not fair. It's not right and it's not legal. It's called Parental Alienation and there have been recent studies on the ill effects it has on the kids. Horrible thing. There have been recent legal cases where a mother's who have done this have lost custody of the kids because of their actions.

It is unfair, unless they're is a suitable reason (hes abusive, drug user, etc. etc.) no parent should ever do that to their child without a suitable reason, a child should grow up knowing who they're father/mother is. (most cases father lol) it's not only unfair to the father/mother, but to the child as well.
