Yes ma'am! Randy Moss is a fine example! He runs over a parking enforcement officer giving him a ticket, when stopped, has a joint burning in the ashtray...alone...not even so much as a tag.
You or I would have had the book tossed at us.
That is only one example. I'd love to go one week without hearing of a pro-athlete getting arrested. These are our role models for the kids?
Yikes.

I worked with a former athlete when I was in college. He used to tell stories about all of the 'special favors' they would receive. People giving them gifts, women wanting to sleep with them, money, food, automatic passing grades, etc. The experience changed my perspective, before then I used to think they were just *******, but I realized this behavior is the result of how they are treated. It would be hard not to feel you are better than everyone else when everyone treats you like you are better.
What is sad is when they are no longer 'useful', either because they get injured or fail to perform. They are discarded like a broken piece of equipment. If they were lucky enough to make some money or get an education, they might be okay, but many didn't, or spent the money they did make. There are a lot of former 'stars' working menial jobs because that is all they can get.
What needs to change is the culture which honors physical prowess and ability over everything else.

Yup, they are too young and too rich to understand the responsibility of acting according to the rules and laws. They have been babied all through school and think they can do anything. Not all of them but the ones that have been pampered and pushed through school without getting an education.
