Problem with Firefox.. any suggestion ?

my firefox keeps asking me for my internet username and password again and again. i have checked the box to remember the password, but i have to press ok again and again. is there any way to save the password ? (I m using a LAN connection).. thanks

You say you are using a LAN connection which means that you are on a network. I think I would first look at what rights you have on the network and whether Firefox (or you as a user) has appropriate rights to the area it saves username and password data to, which is in your profile: C:\Documents & Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox
If that folder doesn't exist or you have limited rights to it, then that is your problem.

In Tools, Options, Privacy, Passwords Tab do you have the 'Remember Passwords' option checked and have you set a Master Password?

Browse around the options on the Privacy tabs. There are other check boxes which may need selecting or deselecting to acheive what you want, including a setting to delete all saved settings at the end of a session. If you find any of these are greyed out, then you should look at your network rights, particularly what happens to your Profile when you log in. If you have a Mandatory profile, your settings are probably not saved. Check with your SysAdmin.

As far as I can see, the information is saved in a file called signons.txt which is located in ..\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[profile name]\ where the profile name is a collection of characters supplied by Firefox. Check that you have access to this area and that it is being saved to your profile and reloaded when you log off and on.
