Should a person let go of their reliance on language in that situation? Would drones who only communicate in feeling and picture have any appreciation for the nuances of the English language? Do only the big ones care enough to learn English?

Theoretically, your question is very good. However, I'll have to let you get back to me with the answer after you ask the aliens. Though don't forget to put forth the images you send to them clearly and concentrate on the emotions carefully so you don't confuse them.

Well, we think of what we wish to communicate before actually vocalising it, so I doubt vocal communication would be necessary, as relying on the transcendent telepathic abilities of the Greys should suffice. Mental discipline would also be of benefit, I shouldn't wonder.

Personally though, If I came across one, I'd keep out of it's way. We are simply containers to them and are about as significant as an ant is to us...how many times have you trodden on an ant and thought nothing of it...?

I think that when you speak, you have a fully developed thought supporting your speech. Thus, if you spoke to a being that communicated telepathically, it would be able to undstand you perfectly by reading the underlying thoughts.
