I don't think it would. Having these things exposed forces wrestlers (and wrestling organizations) to have a little more accountability for their actions. But just a little. Wrestling still conducts business as if the vast majority of their fans still think it's real - and to a large extent that's smart because even now the smarks are in the minority save in cities such as Chicago, Philadelphia and Toronto where they'll boo and cheer who they like regardless of face/heel status. Secrets ARE still kept within: just look at wwe.com. They never once mentioned the real reason Orton was suspended. Things do leak to the internet, however, and the WWE doesn't really think about it, even though they should. Does RVD care that people see him as a druggie? No, because that's his gimmick. But Orton should care very much about his image seeing as many female fans adore him, and if they turn on him knowing he defecates in women's gym bags, his star will fall rapidly.

I leave you with this: Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka quite literally got away with murder because Vince McMahon wanted the secrets to be preserved. Is knowing this ruining wrestling? Perhaps there are bigger issues at stake.

I agree that the media often blow things out of all proportion when something concerns a celebrity but on the whole exposure of nastiness in the cupboard is a good thing.

Pro wrestling is not the fairest of 'sports', anyway. For a long time it has been known to be very much prone to deals made backstage, staged 'entertainment' fights and so on. It's really an aentertaiment business rather than a sport.

It only depends on the situation. For instance, when Rob Van Dam & Sabu were pulled over last month & arrested for drug possesion, RVD got 30 days of suspension & Sabu only paid $1,000 in a fine for only having drug paraphenelia in his possesion or Randy Orton receiving a 60 day suspension for unproffessional conduct, would it been better off if the public didn't know about these things? When wrestling fnas tune in to either watch RAW, Smackdown, or ECW, they get a different version of the real story on what happened to their favorite superstars & they don't get the real facts untill it's on the internet or published on some wrestling magazine. I don't know, but it's better off if secrets about wrestlers were kept out of the public' eye.

I s'pose in a way its just trying to expand its audiences by letting them 'get to know' their superstars better.
Its most likely that WWE's come to terms with the fact that even the blandest, 7 year old Cena fanboy would understand that those are in fact, real people, and not, well, superheros like The Hurricane.
So instead of trying to leave an image of The Hurricane flying skies or Booker T being an actual King, they realise they've got to let you know, of course to a certain extent, what's going on behind the flashy characters and stuff.

I personally think that the writers are the ones who are ruining pro wrestling. Have you not noticed how full of crap the story lines are! What the hell does two people having sex in a bed in the middle of the ring have to do with wrestling?

It does tend to spoil the stories they are doing, but they are becoming even more famous and it should be expected. Plus you can't believe everything you read on the Internet! So unless you work with the company or are a part of their life, no one knows for sure what is true or not!

No I don't think so, the secrets are meant to be known and I mean if you don't want to read it you don't have to. Some people like to know the secrets and some don't.

I do however think that this is a legitimate question.

Yeah but when it is serious like, life threatening disease coming up to them.. We should know.. The rest should be kept private. What are you going to do about it? Sign a petition?
