His full name is Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins and he is a Nigerian international and was born 28 Oct 1984. He's been in Italy since he was a teenager and to play for Inter Milan with the likes of Adriano, Figo, Recoba and Zanetti means he is good.
The only striker currently in the English league that can match him for pace may be Craig Bellamy but no defender can match him for pace.
Is he worth £10m? He is worth more than that. Why do you think Portsmouth are trying to outbid Newcastle for him? Pompeys will shell out more than 10m, mark my words.
Did you watch the Amsterdam Tournament couple of weeks ago involving Man. U, Ajax, Inter and Porto? You would have been convinced - I think he was top scorer, at least I saw him score two goals in one of the matches

He is a decent player but he lied about his age because apparently he is supposed to be at least 6 years older than he really is.
If this is true than he is not going to be a good buy for Newcastle and just because he has Pace does not mean he is a good player.
Cisse had plenty of pace and was actually TERRIBLE in front of goal. Newcastle should rather go for KLOSE!

Similar in style to Michael Owen - very fast. I have seen him in the Champions League playing for Inter and rate him very highly but he needs to be given the right service. What will be interesting is when Owen is fit again and how Newcastle will fit both into the side given the similarity in styles.

He is quick but did not overly impress at the pre-season friendly vs Tottenham. Think simply this is a panic buy from Newcastle to applease the supporters.
Having decided Kuyt was not for the Toon they had to go and buy someone ... Martins was it , I would not get too excited

As a Geordie, I hope so. He is a big lad who can run the hundred meters in under 11 seconds, and strong quick strikers tend to do well in the premiership, (just as long as they can shoot).
God knows how old he is, It all seems to have gone quiet on that front, the issue is due to a clerical error in Nigeria. i don't know why people don't just ask Celestine Babayaro as he was meant to play with him at the Olympics.

I saw him play and score for Inter against Arsenal at Highbury in the Champions League about 3 seasons ago - he looked very good. Very strong and quick and finished his chance well.
