me and my man have been through a rough time of it lately, not relationship wise, just life throwing crap our direction and I would really like to make tonight special for him. He's been so supportive when I have been at my lowest and I would love to celebrate the 3 fantastic years we have had together properly and make him feel special....but with no money and no babysitter anyway I feel a bit lost for ideas. Can anyone think of anything????

ok its not that I dont want my 2 year old around me I didnt mean that I meant I want it to be special just the 2 of us. We have lots of times together as a family it would be nice if it was just us for a change.

I am in a similiar situation with my wife so what I did was I took my children to the park and made sure they got all their energy out of them so they would go to bed early then I made my wife a nice candle lite dinner and layed a blanket on the floor dimed the lights and just had a little romantic dinner on the floor of our living room with some flowers and soft music and then we made love to each other. You do not need a lot of money to show someone they mean the world to you. now of course the soft romantic route worked for me cause she is a girl if you man would not be interested in that maybe make him his favorite dinner and then take a bath with him and then take him to the bedroom and grant him one wish...Anything he wants.

I suggest a picnic in a place you both like (park, lake, beach). You can enjoy your children together and let them tire themselves out. While they're doing that, you two can talk and smooch. It's sounds like you have a great relationship, but there are still things that don't get said (enough).
Men want to know that 1) you love us, 2) you respect us and are proud of us, and 3) you desire us. We're really not that complex. So, tell him those things.
Also, make some plans. It doesn't matter what. A vacation, the next school for the children, some changes to the house, ...
With any luck, when you get home, the children will be tired from the outing and will go to bed and stay there. Time for more talking, smooching, and you-know-what. Think of something that you two have not done together or have done rarely, and do it.

Improvise...Dust off that table cloth and dig out your best plates and cutlery.Cook him his favourite meal,at the end of the day going out and paying for a meal is special but doing it at home is more special.Think of a speech or a few words to say to your fella that sums up your relationship and lets him know how you feel that you can say over your meal...Good luck.

Why do you need to leave your child/children out of it, make it special with them, have a nice home cooked meal, a bottle of wine (obviously not for the kids) then put them to bed and watch a movie and make it special ;-)

write him an opera and perform it! at my kid's birthday party recently, dh assigned the kids the task of writing an opera about abraham lincoln returning a jar of pickles. it was hysterically funny.
make him a medal or certificate for terrificness and write the citation about how wonderful he is.
cook him his favorite dish.
