It keeps one awake and somewhat confused. Have you ever noticed how easy it is to walk into a casino but finding your way out can be confusing? It is all very much a plan to keep you "in" for as long as possible. They have it down to quite the science, in fact.

They want to keep a party atmosphere, so you'll feel good and gamble more. Anyway, I've got nothing special against casinos if they let you win regularly and keep you entertained, cause there are some that program their slots in a way that makes me wonder how come they still have clients... And then there is a place on earth, Vegas, where I've been only once (it's a long trip from Portugal there), which I found amazing: you can sleep and drink cheaply, you've got lots of things to see and do apart from gambling and at least when I was there the prize distribution seemed acceptable. I've heard some people say Vegas is kitsch but I rather liked the party ambiance for the whole family there.

There is a science to the layout and color schemes of a casino. The carpet is high energy, and also hides any dropped chips. No clocks at all in the casino, or windows so you lose track of time.

Notice too that there aren't any clocks, it's hard to find exits (a fire hazard) and the prepared sounds of winners, etc. are played through the speakers. As for the carpeting, it keeps you exciting and distracted and creates a mood of busy activity.
