Hi,
I was 38 while I forgot a single pill in the month. We were not searching for having a child at that moment, since it was a very difficult one and we hardly had sex at the time.
We were moving continuously and trying to settle down in another country, no work, not a single extra coin.
Once in New Zealand, I noticed that after interrupting the pill, my period was not coming. Waited some more days and started worrying about having a premature menopause, certainly hormonal disorder for all those problems and it might be a tumor.
A few days later I could not use my bra anymore because I was by that time a double breast chicken, then I bought the cheaper pregnancy test I found, went to the collective girls bathroom and there it was: I was pregnant from my little daughter that now is 4 years old, a perfectly normal and happy girl that changed my life forever. She was meant to be born in one city, but came some little earlier in another Country and without my obstetrician, not talking their language.
Little by little, we could fix up some of the things, but – thanks God - I had a completely uncomplicated pregnancy even though I crossed practically twice the world in a plane, last trip for papers at 8 month pregnant.
Do not worry, just be prudent and the day you decide to have a baby make a genetic check-up ( easy and secure ) to feel relaxed all your pregnancy and enjoy each single moment of it. Now I am 42 and already thinking in having another baby from a couple of month on. In the meantime , I’m still taking contraceptives.
Take it easy, if you have decided to be a mother one day, you will be.
I wish you the best,
Fro

I had my first child when I was nearly 31 & I was older than nearly every other mum to be.
You don't want to leave it much longer because your fertility decreases as you get older and certain medical problems and birth defects become more likely as you get older.
You're not too old yet you will just need more care through the process, go for it it's the best thing I have ever done and I don't feel I'm missing out on anything because I did it all before I became a mum and I now have the maturity and selflessness to be a good mummy which I don't think I would have had in my 20's.

I got married at 35 and had my first child when I was 37 and the second one at the age of 39, both very healthy, while my pregnancies were perfect.
Why do you worry about not having children yet? How long has it been that you have been trying to conceive without results? If it's very long, why don't you visit your doctor (gynaecologist)?

I had my first child at 37 and my second at 39. There were plenty of reasons for this - the main being that I hadn't met a suitable partner! I was worried that I wouldn't be able to have kids, or that they would be disabled, but thank goodness, both worries were unfounded.
One thing I did notice regarding the care I received, was that it all seemed to be tailored for younger women - there were classes and courses for teenage mums (and no doubt they needed them) but nothing for mothers of my age (is the correct phrase 'prima gravida'?). I'd have liked more help and input but I found out what I needed to know myself, so in the end it didn't matter.
Good luck and I hope you fulfil your dream...

Don`t worry I had my first child at 35 and my second child at 37. I would`NT have had it any other way I really enjoyed being pregnant with no health problems. All I would say is take a good multi vitamin and iron tablet a good three months before you start trying for a family.

I'm 38 and still looking for the right man to father my child. I do have anxieties about being childless but prey it will happen one day. I only want one child so I think I still have enough time. My best friend is childless as well and at 42 she hasn't given up yet.
Good luck!
