I am one of those consultants.I charge £10 for a makeover but that is redeemable against a purchase.I charge because someone could book an appointment with you then not turn up,which means i've wasted my time getting things ready and also had to get more staff in to cover for me while i'm busy with the make up.of course we try to get you to buy,it's our job!I wouldn't do a makeover if it was someone that wasn't going to spend even a small amount.we are trying to run a business after all!!

Whether or not the makeovers are free depends on the product they are trying to promote. Usually they are not, but they;re only like $15. That's an awesome way to try a new look. They can recommend colors and prodcuts that work with your skin tone and eye color. Also, show you the latest trends in make-up. Go for it! Pass by, schedule your appointment, and let us know how it turned out! But, remember these products they use are generally expensive, so expect that they're going to want you to spend $$ afterward!

Yes, but the whole thing is a sales gimmick. They are trying to sell you one or more of their very expensive line of cosmetics. You need to try to get on their mailing lists and watch the newspapers for their promotions. These brands are NEVER ON SALE by company policy! There are some very good bargains out there at times. Watch them like a hawk for technique, etc. Get tips for colors. It has been proved the less expensive lines are just as good. Sometimes you pay just for the name. My own makeup bag goes from the very top of the line to the drug store. I am loyal only to the brands that work the best for my type of skin and my age! I prefer only the better perfumes, but any with do, within reason.

You can either make an appointment to have them do your make up for an event or something, then you have to pay. But, if you are looking for, say, a foundation, or a piece of make up, you can go up to the counters, tell them what you are looking for, and they will put on make up and try different colors - and you can request that they do your make up...but - just a pointer - if they end up doing your make up, they do like you to buy something from their counter. They kind of get pissy when they have gone through that whole bit with you and you don't buy anything. But, they are expensive, so if you can't afford it, don't be afraid to say "NO"

It all depends on the event that they are having there and which brand. If you approach them and tell them that you want to try out their makeup, they should do the whole makeup for you for free, but if they figure out that you have no intention to purchase their products, they would ask for a fee. For example, you can make an appointment with MAC, but you have to purchase about $60 worth of makeup.

Usually with MAC one of their artists will try stuff on you for free to see if you like them. I'm not positive, but I think it's the same with other ones as well. Although, I recommend MAC the most. If there's any catch whatsoever, I'd say that they're good at making you spend a lot of money. However, it IS worth it!!

They are free but it's kind of assumed that seeing as you have gone there to try out their products or asked for a specific look, then you were intending on buying their products. They are trying to sell you things, and it may look really rude if you just got up and left. You don't have to buy the ENTIRE makeup kit, maybe just one particular item.

yes but they try to get u to buy and sometimes offer u a discount.. i know thiws one girl who before a special event goes to the counter to get it all done but.. i do better than they do as they hate color during the day and im only seen during the day not at night so if u dont knwo what ur doing or how to look or best things to brings out ur feature( u have to have an artists creative eye) then go for it it is for free.just tell them to write all the stuff down when ur done so u can purchase thigns later.

No you don't have to pay for it but they do try and get you to buy the stuff. Careful how they apply the products too. You don't want them applying a used lipstick directly to your lips make sure they use cotton swabs and disposible sponges. It's easy to catch pink eye and herpes if not careful.

Yes, but htey do expect you to buy something. Have them do your make-up and then fall in love with the lip gloss or a single eyeshadow color. That way you'll get off cheap without feeling guilty.
