Insomnia has many facets, causes, and yes also solutions. Loud neighbours, badly sound-proofed apartment buildings, many things can affect your sleeping cycle.

Your mind will also retain thoughts of uneasiness causing you to suffer from insomnia when some elements become constant. Example, loud neighbours who are constantly busy for a certain amount of time; even when they are not around your mind will have trouble relaxing at sleep time due to the fact it has become so standard to it to NOT be allowed to sleep.

Also the world of today is louder than ever. Sound systems are all bass-boosted and buildings aren't being soundproofed properly when constructed. People have less and less respect for other people's right to peace & quiet, and of course, loud people either don't care about their own decibel level or simply think they are quiet.

Alcohol can also have the OPPOSITE effect; it may numb your senses for a while but it will also be an "exciter" or stimulant if you will, which may prevent you from having a good deep sleep.

Many other foods and drink can affect your sleeping cycle, such as sugars, caffeine/tea-eine, fruits/vegetables, etc... Drinking too much water before going to bed will make you get up often for a pee which will disrupt your sleeping cycle. Eating 30 minutes before going to bed will also activate your digestive system which will take energy and effort, also possibly preventing you from a sound sleep.

But the most classic form of insomnia comes from the sleep sycle disorder, where you go to bed later (or earlier) than your cycle, so you have what they call a second wind of awakeness/awareness, and so you just can't pass out.

In my case, loud neighbours and non-soundproofed environment. One day I'll have a house and my sleep disorder will eventually fade...

Women.. can't sleep? Lets say you lose 40 hours a month..maybe I can help. lets figure it out using math...lets pick numbers from 0 through 9... lets put down sleep nites. under those numbers.
pick any 3 numbers, but don't start with zero....you can use zero in any other position. don't use a number more than once. say you picked 8 0 6 ok turn these numbers around so they would be 6 0 8....then subtract the smaller from the larger..so you got 198 turn this around to 891 and add to 198..... giving 1089 multiply hrs lost 40
answer is 43560...check these numbers with letters...and this is your problem..

I have the similar problem but i think i can handle it well now. The best solution to insomnia? Excercise. Try weight lifting, aerobics, or any kind of healthy excercise for at least 1hr a day, preferably around 6-7pm. then have ur dinner, you will (as i did) feel sleepy and in need of rest after that. Hence, you'll be able to sleep early and long enough for a long day of work. But note that once you start working-out, you have to better do it continuously.

i had the same problem. couldn't sleep mind racing tanking about everything until my doctor put me on amben now i sleep like a baby with in 20 min of taking it & im not slow in the mornings & my day starts at 4 am

Try making your bedroom a relaxation roon. Keep any distractions out of the bedroom (like tv, radio...). Meditate before bed, try to rid your mind of anything that might keep it racing. Try also taking a bath, using aromatherapy (a calming scent is lavender). Read instead of watching t.v., when you're getting ready to go to sleep. Listen to relaxing music. Just keep things MELLOW!

Try meditation and relaxation techniques for peace of mind and relaxation from tensions and physical exersion like yoga or exercise is a must.

take sleeping pills or try to avoid unnecessary tensions because you cant stop what will going to happen... and you cant do that which is never going to happen... So Relax

Happens to me all the time. You have to get up really early so you are exhausted by the time you have to go to bed.
