BLOT BLOT BLOT!

Never wash your face too often and be sure that if you experience dryness after you wash your face, apply moisturiser.

You have the same problem that I have. Believe me, no product can stop the oil altogether. In fact, I came to realize that because of my oily skin, I will not have as much wrinkle. That said, try Origins products: Origins cleanser: Get Down; Origins Toner: Refined Oil; Origins moisturizer: Matte Scientist; and Origins Dr. Weil's Mushroom Serum are all great for oily skin. Since using these products, my face has been 100 times more balanced. I mean not as much oil and no pimples at all.

HOW TO CARE FOR OILY SKIN

1. Stick with the basics: The experts suggest cleansing your face two or three times daily with good old soap and water. Pack a premoistened cleansing pad if you won't be around a water basin throughout the day.

2. Understand that dermatologists and aestheticians often disagree on which types of soaps or cleansers to use'but all agree that once you find a product that works well for your skin, you should continue using it.

3. Follow the recommendations of dermatologists and shower or bathe in tepid rather than steaming-hot water. Hot water can strip your skin of needed moisture, while cold water can shock your skin.

4. Avoid using cleansers that tend to overdry skin. This paradoxically causes your skin to produce even more oil than usual.

5. Use only noncomedogenic moisturizers and sunscreen products'this means they're oil-free and won't clog pores.

6. Talk to your dermatologist about a class of drugs called retinoids, which reduce production in oil glands and shrink their size.

7. Keep in mind that oil glands are very sensitive'stimuli such as hormones, heat and (some say) fatty food can trigger them.

8. Remember that your efforts to keep your oily skin clear can only go so far, as some studies indicate that oily skin is hereditary.

HOW TO FIGHT OILY SKIN

1. Wash your face two or three times a day with a mild cleanser that does not include perfumes or additives. Keep your skin very clean, but do not scrub too hard.

2. Use an oil-free moisturizer and cosmetics.

3. Use a clay-based face mask two or three times a week.

4. Choose products containing alpha-hydroxy acids, which remove dead cells and give skin a smoother appearance.

5. Mash up a small amount of papaya for your own fruit acid mask. Smear it on your skin, leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse.

6. Steam your skin several times a week. Add chamomile, lavender oil or dried herbs such as rosemary, parsley or thyme to the water.

7. Keep your skin hydrated by drinking at least eight glasses of water a day.

8. Reduce fats and oils in your diet. Increase your intake of fresh vegetables, fruits and whole grains.

9. Watch your sun exposure. Although the sun may seem to dry your skin, too much heat actually stimulates the production of more oil.

10. Supplement your diet with B-complex vitamins, vitamin A, vitamin C, zinc and vitamin E. You can also take a high-potency multivitamin.

Tips:
Make your own facial scrub by mixing 2 tbsp. almond meal with 1 tbsp. ground lemon rind and 1 tbsp. powdered milk.

Make your own clay mask by mixing green clay powder with water or honey and applying it to your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse.

Use a cleanser daily. When wearing makeup use an oil free foundation and use translucent powder, not too much, to reduce shine and oil. Another option is oil blotting sheets. Good luck!

Wash your face in the morning and at night and put a good moisturizer on. If you don't use moisturizers and dry your skin out, your body will think it needs to make more oil, which will make your skin even oilier. Proactiv works really great for me. It stings sometimes, but it makes my skin feel clean and dry.

its a misconception! avoid washing your face more than twice a day. too much washing can actually trigger your oil glands to secrete more sebum. use oil blotters instead. there are also toners that can help control oiliness.
