Good question!!

It is difficult to pick out just one. I think it depends on my mood, and which ere of my life I'm thinking of.

Classically - I think it would be Maria Callas and Pavarotti.

Edith Piaf deserves a mention, and Billy Holiday and Nina Simone.

Pop music - well Whitney Houston can certainly belt out a good song!

I thinnk if I had to choose one, it would be Billy Holiday, because she has a great voice and also interprets the songs in an unforgettable and poignant way.

In my opinion , yhe gratest singer would have to be Paul Rogers. He has an amzing voice and uses it to it's full potential. His chord changes are smooth with no breaks, he flow from the lowest low right through the middle to the highest hig in one swift smooth pitch.
He is just excellent.

His bands include Free, Bad Company, Outlaws, and now he is lead singer for Queen.

Female - Tarja Turunen formerly of Nightwish
classical/opera trained singer in a melodic/symphonic metal band. Thats one helluva combo

Male - Tom Ayara of Slayer for being able to understand what he is singing no matter how fast he sings...
Chuck Schuldinger of Death for being the only death metal vocalist I know of that you can understand with a wicked screech (Death is the ONLY death metal I listen to btw)...
King Diamond for his killer psychotic falsetto that fits perfectly with the stories he sings and the characters in them...
Timo Kotipelto of Stratovarius for being a great singer imo...
Peter Steele of Type O Negative has probably the deepest voice in all heavy music

Hard to pick one out of these four :- Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Barbara Streisand, Frank Sinatra. But I will go for Sarah Vaughan, listen to her sing " Loves finds a way " sounds like a bird from paradise.

Hard to pick just one.

I'll mention some of the "classics." Frank Sinatra. Sarah Vaughan.

Very expressive, Great tone.

Wine, women and song! For me, great music, a great liquor, and a beautiful lady are among the most aesthetically pleasing things I can think of. Exquisite.
