unfortunately there is no "nice way" to hande that... the nicest thing in that situation is either be honest with him & tell him he's breaking your furniture and he needs to lose weight; or when he wants to go to your place, you politely suggest going to his place instead... or if he insists at staying at your houe, invite him to sit on the floor with you (and just start sitting on the floor when he's there) or try going some public place with steel reinforced furniture.

Buy better furniture. Next time he comes over ask him to sit on the floor. You might need to help him up tho.

get ur self a old stump, ( a hard section of a log) for him to sit on & tell him if he dosen't lose weigh he can't sit on anything else when he comes over, unless he buys you new furniture

then compromise when he complains
