I like mysteries, or horror, thrillers. If they're good, I usually can't put them down.
I will not answer the favorite book question, because I have too many to list. I could probably come up with a top-20 list, but that would require a lot more time.
I do read a lot, can't help it. On average, I read between 35 and 45 books a year, not including the reading I did when I was in school.
I suppose most people are reading the DaVinci Code, these days. I really like Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. Not as controversial, and very quick read.

I prefer reading and writing urban erotica because I lead a relatively mundane life. I am a divorced mother of 2 girls in her mid 30s who has been celibate for the past 2 years. I don't drink or smoke. I've never done drugs. I don't party. I just exist. I am a mother first. I am the sole provider for my household and I am trying to set a good example for my daughters, 11 & 14. So, I am able to escape into the urban erotic world through my written fiction. I can live vicariously through the sexy, explicit, daring characters that I encounter as I read or that I create as I write. I can be as wild as I want to be without having to wrinkle my clothing.
My favorite book is The Coldest Winter Ever by Sistah Souljah.
Yes, I read a lot. I think most people read thrillers or maybe romances. There's so much to choose from. Reading to me is like watching a movie or television show. It's as if I'm there watching the lives of the characters unfold.

I read a lot of genres. I read mysteries (like the Kellermans), I read horror (Stephen King), I read chick lit (like Jennifer Crusie) and self help books (about yoga, meditation, Sylvia Browne, that kind of thing).
My favorite book ever is The Stand by Stephen King.
I'll get 7-10 books from the library and be ready for more a week later.
I really don't know what people read, but considering some of the utter crap that becomes "best seller" material, I really don't want to know.

Fantasy series...the more books in the series, the better. Also find I love comedy romance books...hey, the movies are good so why not the books too? Tehehe...
My favourite book is actually a series of 11 books and counting, The Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan. Does a book a day count as a lot?
I'll take a guess that the most read catagory of books in the world is, thanks to all the unhappy housewives around the globe (jk), romance novels.

Favorite Genre: Speculative Fiction (Horror/SF/Fantasy)
Favorite Book: "Kindred" by Octavia Butler
I read a lot.
I know a lot of people seem to be caught up in mysteries since The Da Vinci Code. I think a lot of people maybe read literary or non-fiction. Memoirs seem to be hot right now.

I love horror / mystery. My favorite book is Salem's Lot by Stephen King but I also like James Patterson, John Grisham (anything before "A Painted House"), Dean Koontz, and Tami Hoag. I used to read all the time but have been spending way too much time on here so I haven't read much lately.

I really loved The Da Vinci Code. I know everyone probably says that since the movie came out, which I also loved--mainly cause I've got a thing for Tom Hanks, but I literally just could not put it down. Any sort of mystery/thriller books like that...esp ones that make you think...i love.

I read different genres but my favorite is non-fiction--biographies and autobiographies. I find it fascinating to read about people and their lives, the challenges they've faced, their dreams and successes, their relationships w/others, their childhoods.
Not sure of one favorite book; too many to list!
Yes, I read constantly. I usually am reading two books simulataneously, one fiction and one non.
I write non-fiction; am currently writing my life story for my kids and any future generations.
I think people read for many reasons: escapism, entertainment, knowledge.
