Just a drama, to avoid the jail life.
The politician would be enjoying the life normally, of course at the cost of the peoples' money, but, due to some crime he committed, if he is arrested, he would make a drama of ill health and admit himself in any hospital. There he would be looked after well. By that time, he gets bail and released.
