My digital camera takes pictures in jpg (PAL) format. My Windows computers can download the pictures from the camera and display them, my Mac cannot. Is there a program I need to install on the Mac or is there a setting I need to change on the camera?

NO. JPEG is a standard, which simply means, it can't be changed only because it's different operating system.

JPG or JPEG is the same on both Windows and Mac.

Please state your proble more clearly, in what stage Mac is unable to display your pictures? My best guess is Mac is unable to read the files from the camera, this is caused because: a. your camera doesn't natively supports file transfer to Mac b. Mac doesn't have an appropriate driver to transfer data from your camera to the computer.

Usually, newer cameras act more like a USB flash disk nowadays. You don't need any additional drivers (other than the OS standard drivers). [I'm not a Mac expert] You should find a folder that is equivalent to Windows' My Computer, a folder which lists all connected storage media, from your permanent harddisk, to CD/DVD Drive, to USB Drive, it should show up there. You could then copy the file just like you copy from a USB Flash Disk

The jpeg or jpg file format are the same for Mac and Windows. However, you may want to look at getting a photo album or graphic manipulation program so you can edit your photos. There are many programs available online.

Jpeg format is the same on both Mac and Windows. If the camera is not working on your Mac, you are probably missing a driver. Check the manufacturer's website for the driver. Not a MAc user, so I can't help you beyond that...

shifting your information over is not any concern in any respect. in actuality, in case you purchase your Mac from the Apple keep and take your computer in with you, they'll pass your information on your new Mac for you for loose! additionally they have loose workshops for "switchers" to instruct you with reference to the recent interface. in case you're no longer able to purchase from an Apple keep, you could the two burn your information to a minimum of various of DVDs to go them over, or you could pass information over ethernet. i choose to propose ethernet in case you have greater beneficial than the 4.7GB which will in good shape on a DVD. in case you have an enormously small quantity of documents, you need to use a USB thumbcontinual to go information besides. To pass over ethernet, in basic terms hook an ethernet cable between the Mac and the computer. you do no longer choose a pass-over cable. a nicely-known ethernet cable will do. On you Mac, pass to the Sharing pane of equipment possibilities and decide "abode windows Sharing." turn that directly to your person. you will now see textual content explaining what IP handle to direct your computer to. Use Explorer on the computer to pass to that handle. you could now in basic terms drag and drop information into that Explorer window. My one caveat with it rather is that in case you have any offered (DRM-secure) WMA information, they gained't artwork in iTunes. otherwise, your mp3s, AACs, and non-secure WMAs could drag and drop into iTunes in basic terms high quality. JPEGs can drag and drop into iPhoto.
