depends on your state. But the first place to start would be to petition the court for the visitation. Call legal aid if you can not afford an attorney. I hope all works out for you.

In many states Grandparents do have legal visitation rights set forth already in the law. In others, a judge can decide whom can see/visit a child. Grandparents can still file for custody against an unfit parent in almost every state. Also, in many states the judge will allow a teenage child to choose these options. I would contact a family lawyer and ask the simple question via phone. Most will tell you whether it's worth your time and then set you up an appointment.

Social Services can help you with this... They will advise you on your rights, the parents rights etc... Or maybe talk to a lawyer when the have the free advice days, depending on where you live ofcourse...

grandparents HAVE NO rights, except those given to them by the legal guardians of the children... and can be revoked without prior notice!!!
