If class denotes heirachy....
and if heirachy ('archy' meaning 'government') is an intrinsic part of any governed society....
then class systems will prevail wherever and whenever there is government of people.

But that was not the question. Should there be a class system? It's like asking "Should the western countries allow poverty to continue in the third world??"

It doesn't matter what you or I think - we all have our own expectations regarding how the world SHOULD be. It's more important to do what you can in order to help make the world a better place.

Regarding class: I don't think there should be a class system, because I don't think there should be any government of people.

Let's replace 'classes' with 'guilds' of equal status.

A class system isn't usually something that's thought out and designed intentionally (except in India). It just happens in every society and always will.
People do what they can to flatten the class system by granting the poor equal status under the law etc., but it can never be totally eliminated.

Any system, any country, any office, any school, any settlement has a hierarchy. The class system is the UKs. I don't particularly like it, even though I sit happily in the upper echelons of middle class, but that's just life. Some people are working class, speak badly, are ugly, are illiterate, some people are working class and brainy as anyone you could meet. But they'll always be seen as working class even by the most stupid pompous idiot in the upper class. It's the same with blacks, jews, muslims whatever, in England. Some people will not take them as their own, they will see them as lower down the hierarchy than themselves, BECAUSE of their background. Not me, I like all sorts of people

There IS a class system now. It just is not organized division. Not clearly spelled out, its more of an unspoken level of classes. It'ss pretty obvious though- rich/poor- white/blue collar etc. It isn't written in stone and you can sometimes move up or down in the system.

OR were you talking about school classes... I don't know about that.

There should be a class system but not by birth castes and not enforced by the government. It's important that we look down on the homeless and admire highly educated professionals as it motivates us to work harder to succede in our society.

There is always and has always been class systems. You need to explain in which way you mean. i.e within the workforce as in leadership, culturally as in globalization or as in groups of people in society etc. It's too broad an question to give an answer to.

There is a class system. Communism tried to address it - unsuccessfully, of course. There is no answer to the existing class problem, not politically, at least.

without a class system you're talking about social autonomy...
which lends itself to isolation...
which in essence means the lack of productivity and infrastructure...
which ultimately leads to the death of the civilization.

so yes...there should (and will always) be a class system.
