I am in high school what subjects must i take?

To become a structural engineer you should excel at high school math classes and sciences (specifically physics). You will need to get a undergraduate degree in civil engineering and take electives in structural design and materials for contruction. A Master's degree is strongly recommended for structural engineering because it is one area of civil engineering where the calculations are very important. To qualify for a Master's you will need to maintain high grades (over 80% university average). Here is a link to a civil engineering curriculum guide:

Generally you will need to work for 4 years after graduation to become an accredited engineer. In the US I think there are exams that must be passed as well. You will need to work with a supervising engineer for your first few years.

Understand that you will probably be in your late 20s before you get to design anything really interesting. If you're enthusiastic and interested in the subjects then you can have a very rewarding career. One nice thing about civil is that the jobs are unlikely to be outsourced and there is potential for working in different countries.
