Yes, the curriculum in USA lackes to geography and history of the others. Also, people in the developing countries , Egypt for example as I am Egyptian , do their best to acquire new information and knowledge, because candidates for jobs are asked to answer some general knowledge questions.

I'm not surprised. There have been many such studies and surveys, and the US often comes out toward the bottom in knowledge of basic geography and politics. The people who *don't* know that this is the case are uninformed.

I haven't read the other answers, but I suspect since you made an unfavorable comparison of the US to an Arab country, you will get some angry responses. As if politics can change facts.

Simply because the average American studies take more to the lines of technology and computer science. History and Geography are secondary in most of their interests. That is probably why Americans have the Economy they have. They really don't care as much about yesterday as they do about tomorrow

Geography is not very well known to average American.

And because they feel they are the center of the world they don't know much about world politics. They only know what they read on American press. We have an advantage, because we read our own papers and we also hear what american presses tell to world.

btw that's not true. i know Egypt very well. the av guy duznt have much to know. they dont have a proper system there, it is totally corrupt and unfair. their intel agency is in the hands of the leader of the time and he can dictate the way things go in his favor.

all the press which they read and are so 'knowledgeable' about it strait from their ministry of indoctrination.

If you are so smart why did you not use spell check which is provided, And your syntax is horrendous, If you are a representative sample of what Egypt has to offer I am not impressed!

Where's your source?
I know most Americans are very poorly educated but it seems likely that most Egyptians would be far worse, given the increased level of poverty.

More knowledge about geography you mean. Yes, they probably do. I don't find geography to be the most important aspect of "knowledge", but to each his own.

i find that hard to believe Americans are ignorant , but the average Egyptian is a peasant who knows about the Koran and not knowledge or truth

I dont think its due to lack of education..just lack of interest..If your interested in something you try to learn all you can about that topic..logic over rides most issues..=)
