I might be slightly biased, but I'd go with Seattle. We have beautiful, romantic sunsets overlooking the Olympic mountains and our city is small enough that you don't really have to drive anywhere...Just stay downtown and you'll have all the good food, lodging, shopping, and activities you could ask for.
Vancouver is larger and more spread out and more crowded. Just my opinion.
I hope you have a great time!!

Both Seattle and Vancouver are GREAT for weekend getaways of any type. No shortage of good food, nice places to stay, good shopping, or things to do in either place. Personally, I prefer Vancouver. Can't tell you why -- I just like it a little better than Seattle.

I have been to both, and I really prefer Seattle. It has a unique atmosphere, and the people are wonderful there. It is a very safe city, and I had no issues while traveling there.
Also, assuming that you will fly to Seattle from Alaska, you will remain in the USA and will not need to worry about the documents required for traveling and such. I read that Canada and the USA would require passports to travel across their border, but I have one already and I cannot remember if I had to show mine the times I traveled there or not. It was a while since I have been to the USA; so, perhaps it was not even required then. I don't remember! ...but you won't need to worry about it if you choose Seattle! :)

Actually, a romantic weekend for two would have to be Victoria BC! That place is so beautiful and there is a lot you can do! Buschard Gardens for one, walk around the water or whatever. Seattle would definitely be a close second!
Anything has to be better than Alaska, my father just moved to Anchorage... eek! Pick Victoria or Seattle, beautiful romantic cities with all the lights!

With its pile history and urban beaches, Vancouver has got the rightly attained trustworthiness of being one of the very lovely towns in the world, with hotelbye you could have the chance to see this unique city. One of many areas you'll need to see in Vancouver is the Downtown Vancouver. Downtown Vancouver is brilliantly positioned on a peninsula in the Strait of Georgia bounded to the south by the delta of the Fraser River and to the north by way of a serious fiord achieving much inland. Here you may also begin to see the usually snow-covered ranges of the Coast Mountains. Stanley Park is one of the very visited parks. Is really a lush Peninsula Park of large woods adjoining to Downtown Vancouver. A paved seawall journey encircles the green space, and many visitors make an effort to investigate on base or by bicycle. Inland, the park offers a lot of things to do, and readers can invest a complete day exploring attractions which range from the totem posts at Brockton Point to the west coast sea life at the Vancouver Aquarium. Magnificent views certainly are a standard through the entire park.

It is true they are both great. I live in Seattle and i go to BC soemtimes for weekend fun. THe thing is this, getting back into the US can take more time that it used to..... so be prepared for that. ALSO, while the canadian dollar is just slightly less than the US dollar i found that it was pretty even because things cost more in Canada. LIke a beer was 6 bucks wich made me pay the same in US....

Then you could have had an "international" wrrkend date.
Save you recipts and get the GST back when you leave, $US worth more than $CA
I live near Seattle and love both cities but I would go to Vancouver...

Screw both, although both are fantastic, VICTORIA, BC, if you've never been is the coolest and most effective vacationing spot to enjoy. Nice locals, and nice hotels
