If you have faith in something, it will happen. For those who believe in the superstitions, they are true. For other people, they do not. It's all in the head...

I don't believe in them at all. Come to India (Chennai inparticular) and you will hear even stranger ones!~
1) If a doctor tells you that you are healthy, it means something bad is about to happen.
2) Drinking cold water will make you gain weight
3) Clipping nails after 6pm will cause bad luck
4) If there are not stairs/doors at the front of the house bad luck
6) Leaving at certain times during the day brings bad luck
7) Don't drink water for 3 days after having a baby!LOL
8) They put an ugly big fake mole in baby pics so that no one will say the baby is too cute! (if they think they baby has no deformation, then it will bring bad luck)
9) If you harm a cat you will have bad luck for all future generations
These are the most strange things ive ever heard and believed by many, particularly by some of the uneducated indian women.

Superstitions are sometimes founded on truth. Other times, it is simple common sense and others still, it is word of mouth which expands into a pack of silliness.

Sneezing for instance.

If you are not blessed by someone after sneezing, there are those who believe your soul is damned because it left your body when you sneezed and only returns when you are blessed.

Some say this is from the split second of heart stoppage when one sneezes, others say it is the devil that makes you sneeze.

Personally, I think some superstitions are a way of teaching common sense like; don't walk under a ladder because it is bad luck. Well, that's smart! It is possible for someone to drop something on your head!!

I don't believe in 99.99% of superstitions. That last .01% is for those common sense ones which I believe only as a lesson in self preservation.

I don't really believe in them, but they are fun once in awhile.
Black birds circling in the sky will bring on bad weather.
Spilling salt is bad luck unless you toss a little over your left shoulder.
Two forks at the same place sitting on the table means some ones getting married.
Bad luck to have some one sweep around your feet. Or it means you're gonna get married. (Depends on where you're from).
Right palm itching means you're gonna meet some one new or you're about to lose lots of money. Both can be avoided by scratching palm on wood.

Throwing cooked rice in someone's house's compound brings the man bad luck and loss. Eating of uncooked rice by a maiden causes rain in her wedding (quite a rice fact)or the whitening of nails when rubbed together while seeing a white bird brings good luck and their reddening brings bad luck. Such things are foolish and bring nothing but a laugh.
Ha ha he he hi hi.

...superstitions are mingled mainly with chance factor but some natural phenomena like "cheer of frogs bring rain' also help them to prosper.
Though I don't believe in any but I like to go through them especially the answers you are receiving. I would like to have some more uncommon from all over the world.

well, it depends on the superstitions. some are true and some aren't.

If someone sneezes while you are going out, you shouldn't go immediately.

If you are going on a special occasion or for some good thing, three people at a time shouldn't go.

if black cat come in your way, while you are going out, you should wait for some time and then you should go out.

If you break a mirror, it is bad luck.

well, these are some i got.

Walking under a ladder means you will get married. Vacumming under someones feet means they won't get married. A black cat crossing in front of you means bad luck. Hanging an Indian Dreamcatcher over your bed will prevent bad dreams. Stepping on a crack will break your momma's back. That's all I know of.
