Considering the fact that she is only going to be 1, I would go with a birthday/halloween party. When she gets older and if she chooses to have a separate party then go ahead and do both, but she may grow up and love halloween like you do. Halloween would provide such an awesome party. More decorations, she'd get to dress up in whatever costume she wanted when she got older. With a dual party, the adults and/or older children at her party would also be able to enjoy a few more things than cake and present opening.
I would love to have my birthday on halloween, but since I was born Dec. 3rd that doesn't really work. I always decorate the whole month of October and make my downstairs creepy. I put black tablecloths on the walls and spiderwebs over the entire ceiling. There are witches, ghosts, vampires, etc all over, a coffin outside. I know last year my nephews had a blast at my halloween party and they were 3 and a year and a half. I had halloween playdo for them, ring toss games, bean bag toss games. Even with the games the most fascinating things I had to them were the flying bats and the bugs. My niece, who was 2 even enjoyed herself as a little butterfly.
Well good luck and if you need any ideas let me know.

I had this same situation with my son's 1st birthday last year. I was urged to make his 1st birthday it's own celebration. I'm glad I did. You have many, many years to theme his party together with Halloween. A 1st Birthday is a "theme" all by itself. It is a very special birthday! Photos and other memories should be made remembering it as a 1st birthday, not a "Halloween" party.

You should have a separate birthday party, especially for her first birthday. The Halloween party would take away from the birthday party theme.

For the Halloween party you would be a bit too early. Besides you may decorate the house eerily, lanterns , dim lights etc. & the guests will come dressed accordingly, this might scare her. Its her first birthday party, make it fun.

Well at her age she is too young to know what's going on, but as she gets older l would do separate parties as she may feel like she is not getting an actual birthday party, it's like people who were born at Christmas feel, they often feel like their big day is often forgotten and kids can feel quite resentful.

Keep them separate!
Those of us born on or close to holidays feel cheated and left out by the birth/holiday gift combination. We're left feeling like we don't deserve our own day like the other kids.

Her first B-day party should reflect a theme only of her, not a holliday that happens to be close to her special day.
