I used to think real freedom was finally getting financially secure with a good job and being able to do what I want when I want, and, while i never actually had a good job and lots of money I don't know firsthand if that will give me freedom or not! LOL. and I probably never will know..........

I sense something deeper than just circumstantial freedom(circumstances can change and what I possess can be taken away in an instant).

A true lasting freedom that I'd like to achieve is to just continue doing what I'm doing but maybe on a deeper personal trust level, and that is to just keep following a path with heart n listening to my heart and not being led by the dictates of society. No matter what happens to me in this life---no matter how bad things can get sometimes--it feels like freedom to just be myself with everyone and in all situations and to simply follow my heart wherever it may lead. It's not always easy but it feels very worthwhile!! :))

I loved your question. Very thought provoking!

Real freedom is experienced by the spirit soul in the spiritual realm in association with the Lord. The body and the mind are never free and never will be. The body is bound by the laws of nature (physics) to grow old and die. The mind is bound by the limits of experience and material conceptions. But the soul is perpetually free, although now we are falsely thinking we are the body and mind and thus we artificially accept the limits imposed by the body and mind. Once we throw off the shackles of material consciousness and understand our eternal, spiritual nature, we achieve real freedom -- no birth and death, unconditional love, unlimited bliss.

Freedom is equal acceptance of an individual in a society as compared to all others. But it is not practical as most of us will misuse it. A matured mind only can be given absolute freedom.

When every one is truthful and open is the freedom. There is no freedom as long as there are some people more equal than others

Freedom is doing what I want, when I want, as I want, without having to ask for anyone's permission or suffer anyone's censure just because they choose not to do it themselves.
Freedom can be summed up in the made-up word MYOB for "Mind Your Own Business."

Freedom to me is being respected and accepted for who I'm and being able to follow my heart and make my dreams come true.

Hi Kelrec:)

great question!

freedom from desires...

freedom from wanting to be free!

freedom is.....?

logically I would say death...

put in other words...beleasement...

I wouldn't say shunning of your desires and feelings....no...

but rather the expression of the desires and intentions...to fulfill the cosmic purpose...only that will set me free:)
