If it is indeed possible to Jam a wireless network, then would like to know how to mitigate this.

I know Mobile phone networks are jammed in say movie theaters or sensetive locations.

A number of things may interfere with your wireless network, such as someone else's wireless equipment within physical range that's operating on the same channel (like a next-door neighbor), some 2.4 Ghz cordless phones, and even some Microwave ovens.

In all cases you can try switching channels in your wireless router setup, so if you're having problems with connections dropping and not seeing the network on channel 6, try channel 11, etc.

As far as phones go, it would be obvious- you'd only have problems when the phone is in use. Try different model of phone- obviously 5.8Ghz and 900Mhz phones don't operate in the same spectrum and avoid this problem altogether.

I have never personally experienced problems with microwave ovens, but I've heard from people who have- in most cases the appliance was right next to the router or computer in which case the recommendation is move something to a different spot :)

Never seen a mobile network blocked in any cinema I have been to.

Apparently some places put a metallic 'mesh' or coating (for instance on some train windows) to reduce / block the signal.

Well, the solution is to change frequencys, which is pretty easy if you look at your router config.
