I'm not entirely sure I can envisage a boy band who are masculine enough to carry off such a huge task. The girls seem to like the pretty boys as much as the pretty boys like themselves. I'm not too convinced that the Spice girls actually empowered girls, I think they were more of an influence to obnoxiousness than self expression.
Although I agree with feminism to a certain degree, in that women should have an equal right to express themselves and use their talents to productive ends, I still like to hope that it won't go so far as to make us all androgynous. I have never been inclined to be a 'girlie' girl, I think women's power comes from their ability to use emotion in a positive way. The fact that so few do, either because they are so busy trying to 'beat' the men or smash through a glass ceiling, saddens me.
We are equal yet opposite, both necessary and productive.
I am not sure how we can empower the men of the future, other than to be supportive in our own way to the growth and development of each individual as we find them. I think that sports stars, mostly footballers, are perhaps a more likely way in to the masculine mind-set. That is, if the media really does have the power to make positive change.
I understand where you are coming from though, it's a real quandry...

I think you're right, but I think it would take more than "The Spice Guys" to do that. Feminism has become such a big issue nowadays, that there seems to be a reversal. So much is aimed at women, that men are ending up taking back seats and it's unfair, as that's what we women have been fighting against, so why are we doing it back??
Ooops, I'm digressing (a lot), sorry! Maybe a girl band aimed primarily at males would do the trick. Men could not look up to a boy band as they would see it as "gay". If it were women singing for, and primarily about, men, that may give the lads some of that neccessary confidence back.
Good question, I had to use my rusty brain!

Sugar and spice and all things nice that's what little girls are made of and not the boys.
Send the boys away to a boot camp they're soon get the confidence boost they need if they feel intimidated by us females.
We do not need silly boy bands who would crumple up and die if they could not see themselves in the mirror 24/7

No,they are a thing of the past...it was a one time wonder for a while now lets move on to better bands & new music genre's..Most bands are made up of men,so maybe encouraging boys to have an interest in music would be more logical..

Well we do have male groups that empower men, they just aren't known as boy bands - Razorlight, Arctic Monkeys, Killers, Jet etc
