If you want to get still shots from a video camera onto your computer you'll need a way to connect the camera to your computer and then software that can either grab still directly from the camera, or else one piece of software to grab clips from the camera, and another to save stills from the clips.
For the connection to the computer, that depends on what type of camera you have. If it's digital, it should have come with the correct connections-probably usb or firewire. If your camera is analogue, the only way I know of to connect it to your computer is to have a video capture card.
Software to grab video clips from your camera either should have come with the camera, or will come with a video capture card. IF not, you might be able to find some freeware programs off the internet. Otherwise, you'll have to buy it.
