Sometimes like there will be a hockey game and a basketball game on the same day on the same floor -- how do they get the ice on the floor ??? is it over or under the wood??

Its over the wood. They lay out a special flooring with refrigeration tubes under it, then spray down water and freeze it. They can get an ice surface ready for skating in about 8 hours. It is pretty thin, though, less than half an inch, while a permanent ice rink is a good bit thicker.

I just don't know how they get the ice on the floor, or whether it is over the wood or under it.
