Assuming that you don't mean to shave your head, and that you really want to shave your pubic hair, then here is your answer.

Hair grows no faster after shaving, neither does it become more coarse or more abundant. These are old wives tales, probably started because we begin shaving when we are young before our hair has reached full maturity (particularly in men) and they associated the shaving with the change in hair growth, rather than the maturation process and hormonal changes during teenage and adolescent development.

Will it hurt? Now this varies on an individual basis depending on your type of skin, thickness of hair and density of the hair growth. You can try a depilatory (hair removal) cream, but some people experience irritation or burning using these in the pubic area. A safety razor is probably the best choice if you are going to shave, at least I wouldn't want a straight razor looming around my privates. Be sure to use a fresh blade to lessen drag (pulling of hair) and irritation. If the hair is particularly long, you may wish to trim it shorter before shaving. Shaving in the direction of the hair growth will produce less drag and irritation, buy yeild a less close shave. Bottom line is that you are going to have to experiment a little.

It doesn't hurt when it grows in but sometimes it itches. I shave and the hiar grows in very fast, sometimes growing subtles after a day or two. Also, more hair grows in. Where there used to be one hair, there are two growing out from one pore. Shaving your bikini area can leave red bumps that look like pimples. I wouldn't shave. Get hair removal cream, (I use Sally Hansen) or wax. If the thought of waxing scares you, you can use "Wax and Relax. No Scream Cream."

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

You don't need to shave your pubic hair, darling. And even if you want to, just apply some shaving cream and use a razor.

The word is 'pubic', darling - it shouldn't be 'public' unless you're an exhibitionist! And I wouldn't shave it if I was you - they do it when you have an op or give birth, and it is SO prickly and uncomfortable afterwards!
