if you where lost in a desert and had to choose a random direction i:e north south east or west. Which one would you choose and why?

I'd have to know which desert I was in to make an informed choice - am I allowed a map and compass? If I didn't have a compass, I'd have to identify the directions some other way, and I might want to walk at night when it's cooler, so - north! Then I could follow the north star.

Either North or South away from the sun's eliptical plane....in the northern hemisphere that is north... Southern hemisphere that is south. For the same reason as above....your heading to a cooler region. It is also helpful that you wouldn't be directly facing the sun at all.

North. You are more likely to hit civilisation as deserts tend to be around the northern hemisphere and if you go south then you just hit the equator. However, if you are in Australia then I dunno. But perhaps you are in a Siberian desert, in that case I'd go west because the civilisation is that way. It really depends, which desert you are in.

I would have a serious problem because i have no sense of direction, so if i tried to go, lets say, north, i would probably be going east!

I would chose north because you know you cant go round the world without hitting and island, whereas if you chose east or west you could just keep going round in a circle! LOL!

I think I'd choose west, I'd have the most sunlight to walk into so I could walk for a little bit longer in a day.

Well if you didn't know that the sun rises in they east and sets in the west then you would be pretty much stuffed.

if desert is in south..ill chose north coz my house is 2wards tat side.
if desert is in east ..ill chose west coz sam as above
if desert is in west then ill chose east coz same as above

Depends in what hemisphere you are. Northern hemisphere, I would head south. Water flows south. Southern hemisphere, just the opposite.

Assuming I had a compass, or could actually be guided by the stars, I'd start going that way.... um, up over the sand dunes, and towards the mirage of an oasis. Follow the music 'You gotta roll with it...'
