Some doctor claims that hormone therapy for gay men and lesbian women would change their sexual preference. Is there any merit to this? I'm a gay guy, and I do not believe this. I just want other people's opinions on this subject. Do gay men really lack testoterone? Do lesbian women need more estrogen? I would say my hormone levels are fine, considering I have hair where all men typically get hair. What about gay bears? I would say they have their fill of hormones. What do you think?

Sure give me the hormone therapy ---then I'd either be a gay man with ti ts or have more chest hair than I do now--I'd be approaching gorilla.
BUT what really psses me off is the assumption that they think I want to be straight.

AND I believe that it is testosterone that causes the sex drive in both males and females..figure that one out.

No, not at all.
But as ‘Indy T’ stated it can change their physical appearance, and voice as well.
Hormone therapy is used sometimes to fight off certain diseases, and can be helpful.
The changes will generally go away when the hormone therapy is discontinued.
As for that doctor, ask him taking rBST will turn someone into a cow as well. It’s nonsense.
If one feels that gay people are somehow converted, our environment would be more likely a cause than any hormone. Both ideas are pure nonsense.
Most enlightened people believe that a persons sexual identity is already established before birth, and there seems to be some DNA evidence to support this view. So it’s not a bad thing after all, just different.

interesting... if that theory were correct, would it not make sense that all women who've gone through menopause or have had their ovaries removed and now lack estrogen turn lesbian? in the same turn, as men age and testosterone levels drop will they all become gay?

maybe in some small theoretical occasion it would give those who feel this is an 'illness' blind hope. personally i think people are born with their sexual orientation intact. just like the color of their hair and eyes.

this doc's time would be wiser spent trying to find a cures for diseases.

Hormones do not make a difference to sexual orientation. Like stated earlier, it can effect physical traits, but not how the brain and sexuality are wired. This sounds like somebody is trying to 'cure' something that is not an illness. Hey, Docs, did you SEE X-men 3?

That's a load of crap. Hormone therapy changes your physical appearance, which is the reason why people who are transitioning go on hormones. It has nothing to do with sexual orientation.

Actually, according to a recent study, gay men have higher testosterone levels than straight.

lol, i donno. I'm pretty sure the world is decided already for us b4 we even make a choice. If people lack one thing or another it shouldnt be bothered. If anything they should recognize what they are doing different from other humanbeings to have such differnet levels of Estrogen and Testosterone. Foods they eat, activities they do throughout the day.

I don't know, maybe they would allow stem cell research if they thought they could "cure" people being gay.
