and lies on a trolley in the A+E department for 8 hours, he is eventually seen by an exhausted overworked,undertrained junior doctor who fails to diagnose a ruptured liver.The boy is given pain relief and tranferred to an understaffed, busy surgical ward for overnight observation.His mother notices his breathing pattern changing in the early hours,she presses the call bell but nobody comes.She goes looking for staff and finds two nurses tending to an old man who has fallen out of bed.When one nurse returns with her they discover the boy is having a cardiac arrest.The emergency bell is pushed and nobody comes,the mother is frantic.
