we moved into a house, the door bell was broke, it was fixable and it worked and you came to my house as a vistitor would you
1.knock
2.try and ring it anyway
3. figure its broke because the light doesnt work?
we have since fixed it but just wondering what your first thoughts would be...?

try and ring the door bell and if I didn't hear it from the outside wait about 30 seconds and knock!

I would try and fix it myself as soon as I saw it..... I'm not good with electricity though so I would probably break it even more and end up buying you a new one!
so yeah I would knock!

I wouldn't notice the light, I'd try the doorbell once, and when I realised it didn't work, I'd knock.
So simple, and yet... so practical!
