You can not avoid, Hypocrite has to be an individual. A Hypocrite is the kind of politician who would cut down a redwood tree, then mount the stump and make a speech for conservation.

Anyone who advocates a libertine, do-as-you-will ethic, but does not actually live like a party animal.

Think about it. Real decadence takes energy and willpower. If you say you advocate loose morals, but do not actually live hedonistically, then you aren't really advocating the pleasure principle; you're just adopting such a pose because you don't give a crap about anyone else.

This is a common feature of hypocritical behavior - behaving in the name of one principle for the sake of an unstated motivation.

A Catholic priest who preaches abstinance outside of marriage and condems homosexuality on Sunday morning and then molests the choir boys on Sunday afternoon is a hypocrite.

To Invisimann1: That is an oxymoron, not a hypocrite.

The so-called lovers are good examples for hypocrites. According to their belief sex is so glorious a thing that a person must place her/his love where her/his sexual interest lies. But they never make it clear. All they know on earth is sex and still they pretend they're bathing in a divine essence! Beware of them. For further illustration read Joseph Conrad's "The Lagoon", of course if you haven't read it already.

Hello...how are you ? Now , that was a sincere jesture because this is the kind of person that I want to be in life. No better than anyone else...just a nice guy. Hypocrits run rampant in churches. Not to say that religion is at fault but we all know that it is the culprit. Organized religion has created a monsterous demon by competing with other churches and/or religions to draw your support in becomming a member. A bit of friendly competition is good in everyday life , unless it causes people to alter the type of person that God intended them to be in life such as a nice guy, When it gets out of control is when the good folks down at the church take issues with others because of their preference in churches and consider themself amongst the elite and of a better crowd of people simply because they now attend Sunday services on Evergreen street. You see , a new chapel was built on Evergreen street but a few towns folk like the small gathering at the old church on Belvidere boulevard. The congregation at Evergreen street has stopped talking to the people of Belvidere because they have suddenly become inferrior in the eyes of the people they have known since grade school. Both churches practice the same theological message but" if you don't come to the church on Evergreen street then you aren't getting the real message" , is what is the talk at the ladies luncheon and at the barber shop. The problem is that these people live in a town that hasn't changes in 20 years until this week. That's when the new church opened. Now while the people at the old church have remained decent christian folk and hold no ill will , the followers of the re. John Burch (imaginary) at the Evergreen street church are mean spirited and nasty to the people they've know all of their lives. A good christian isn't supposed to act in such a manner. A hypocrite is a person that believes themselves to be of a higher standard or with better moral values than is actually the case. Rich people who are snobbish to poor people are marvelously hypocritical because they must wipe their butt the same as any body...just maybe with hundren dollar bills. Me ? Oh,well.. you can find me at the Sunday service on Belvidere boulevard. I like a small croud with real nice people.

An example of a Hypocrite would be a parent who smokes openly infront of his or her children, however forbids her own children to take up the habit themselves. Hypocrasy is patronizin someone else for somethin they do, while doin it yourself. Hope that helps. :)

Countries who have amassed nuclear arsenals want other countries not to acquire nuclear capability. It is hypocrisy.

Religions were spread by the preachers in the colonies captured by exercise of ruthless force; and then the preachers preached the message of love and compassion to fellow human beings; To me, it is hypocrisy.

There are many ..many iniquities and injustices perpetrated by men against men all in the name of high ideals and virtues. All are hypocrites.

Basically it's someone who has double standards... It's okay for them to do it but not you. In fact they despise of that tract or action but desire to do it themselves. Ex: Men don't want there woman cheating but desire to cheat and go through with it alot of times.
