Tom Cruise has been unceremoniously dumped by his Paramount studio partners for his sofa-jumping antics on TV. Revered Paramount boss Sumner Redstone has ended his company's 14-year relationship with Cruise/Wagner Productions because he no longer wants to be associated with the movie star. Redstone tells newspaper The Wall Street Journal he believes Cruise's bizarre antics on TV shows like Oprah and Today had a negative effect on the box office take of Paramount's 2005 summer blockbuster War Of The Worlds. He snipes, "As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal... His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."

He behaved extremely erratically. He jumped up and down on Oprah Winfrey's couch, acting like an uncontrollable nut job. He told Matt Lauer that "I know the history of psychiatry and you don't" (btw - I thought Lauer played this like a fox). He said that anti-depressants are not necessary for people with emotional disorders and that "Scientology" methods would fix it instead. He donated a boatload of money to a Scientology method that supposedly would help the New York City first responders recover from their respiratory problems using a method that not only doesn't work, but may be dangerous. He had it in his contracts that he could have a scientology tent set up on set for several of his latest movies. He refused to negotiate new movie contracts unless they were arranged at a Scientology meeting center. He needs to get away from the Cult of Scientology's goons and go somewhere that he can find things out on his own. He deserves to be sacked by Paramount. If I were one of their executives and I knew that thousands or millions of people would not see one of Paramount's productions simply because he was in it, I would have to fire him, and I'm glad they did. He deserved it.

It's just all the bad publicity he's been getting lately for:
- Jumping up and down on Oprah's couch like a madman
- Insulting Brooke Shields by claiming that post-partum depression doesn't exist
- Yelling at Matt Lauer during an interview
He used to be a safe spokesman for Scientology, but now that he's achieved OT 7 (Operating Thetan level 7), he's showing the world just how batshit crazy he and Scientology really are.

well actually they fired him bcuz he was demanding a too high salary... And after the major flop that was MI-3 AND the crazy stuff on the oprah show and all the scientology thing.... i guess Paramount decided that they wasted too much money on this guy... Many other famous actors are in the same situation as him. Many producers are fed up with over paying celebreties to appear in crap movies... the only ones making money (alot that is) are the actors... Many studios are fed up with that... espacially nowadays that the average movie goer isn't as much "star obsessed" as 10 years ago...

Mr. Cruise’s representatives insisted that they had not been fired but instead had quit and had already lined up $100 million in financing to produce movies on their own.
Either way, the parting of the ways was anything but amicable. And it came as the latest sign that the media conglomerates that control Hollywood are growing impatient with the megastars who earn the highest salaries.

Tom Cruise has bi-polar disorder and as long as he had hit movies no one was going to care. That's the Hollywood way. You can have all sorts of problems in your life and no one cares as long as you are making money. His "illness" has gone unchecked for a very long time, it's out of control and so is his life. I hope he gets help for himself. I never cared for him as an actor, his HUGE ego always shows through his performance. But it's sad to see someone so ill, not getting proper treatment.

it relatively is a complicated one because of the fact they are on par in terms of action pictures. yet, as a man or woman I relate greater efficient to Johnny Depp. anyhow, their careers are on par. Cruise: Rain guy some solid adult males project: impossible Born on the 4th of July a methods and Away volatile employer suitable Gun the colour of money Cocktail Jerry McGuire Eyes extensive close Vanilla Sky The final Samurai Depp: what's eating Gilbert Grape Edward Scissorhands Donnie Brasco worry and Loathing in Las Vegas Chocolat Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy looking Neverland the two their action picture careers have introduced them mass appeal in memorable action pictures. yet, one ingredient is for particular Cruise has worked with greater mythical directors than that of Depp. I mean no offense to Tim Burton - the guy answerable for casting Depp greater beneficial than all of us. yet, he isn't any Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone, Stanley Kubrick, or Brian De Palma.

He's taken complete leave of his senses. They paid him too much money and his last movie didn't do well. A lot of people are so turned off by him anymore since his shenanigans on Oprah, etc and esp. him criticizing Brooke Shields and antidepressants....a topic that he will never know anything about (post partum depression) and calling psychiatry a pseudo science, etc. People don't want to pay to see his movies anymore.

He's flippin insane, that's what happened. If you owned a studio would you want some whackjob like him giving your movies bad publicity? They just decided to cut their losses and move on, and it was a wise decision, I don't believe he's a very viable box office draw anymore anyway. At least I know I refuse to watch any more of his movies.
