1) Rent of flats: depends on the area/suburb of Athens you choose to live. It noticeable that sometimes smaller apartments cost relatively higher than bigger ones due to high demand from students who study in Athens and come from other cities. You can find a small apartment suitable for a couple from 500 to 650 Euros. You can also find cheaper accomodation in certain "notorious" suburbs.
2) Cost of used cars: also depends on model, kms, etc. You can find decent old models for about 3.500 euros, but there are also grat bargains on really old models (for example if you want it for a couple of years or so) starting even from 1.000 euros.
3) Cost of living: if we include rent costs, a couple living in Athens would need about 1.500 euros. It's a rough estimation of course and it includes food, some entertainment, rent, etc.
In general, Athens is an expensive city (by international standards). You can see the statistics yourself (http://www.finfacts.com/costofliving.htm).

I am afraid that u chose the most expensive European city to live. Life in Athens is pretty expensive according to statistics. The rent depends on the area where the appartment is situated not to mention the size of it, if the building is new or old etc. I think the cost of rent for a medium size appartment for two might be from 600 Euros and over.
Unfortunately I cannot help you with the cost of used cars but that again depends on the type of car, the kilometers covered and the model of course.....Maybe u won't find a used car below 2.500 Euros but I am not quite sure.
P.S. I am Greek living in Athens.

Indeed one of the more expensive cities in Europe.. millions of tourists are pumping money into this beautiful city every year. ...
resulting in ungreek unfriendly behaviour that is costing you lots of money.. if you want to live there, try areas more to the north or east.. impossible to give you exact costs, all depends on how you want to live there..
Moving into Greece however is a very good idea, but do not consider all of this beauty & warmth as a present.. it will cost you
