Just because someone is elected doesn't mean they know best. Or that they are trying to do what is best for the country.

All an election does is decide who will be the figure head of the American government and the commander in chief. Elections are now essentially choosing the lesser of the evils we have a choice of.

Power corrupts, hence term limits. Protest is one of the few peaceful ways to get a message across to the government.

After all , any government is to help the people of the country. If it doesn't, it is not a fit government and the people should see it removed.

I thought the president wasn't elected by majority, but by some point system involving the states.
Indeed, it is infact arguable if USA is a democrazy after all, since different voters in different states seem to have slightly different influences in the choosing of the president. Perhaps that is why people over there protest.
Though they protest of a lot of silly things, when they could be concentrating into moving towards a welfare-state model, instead of using capitalism as a cure-all to all socioeconomic problems.

Not everyone in America thinks the same. We have different ideas and opinions. But the President is elected by a majority. The minority has the right to protest.

The protest is an American Right.

What I don't understand is why they don't protest more. They did not elect Bush. He stole two elections. That's not the same as being elected. The first election was stolen when his brother counted the votes. The second election was stolen by electronic voting machines programmed by one of his biggest supporters and with no paper record of how each person voted.

We protest because he started a war out of arrogance and deceit, because that war is costing America hundreds of millions of dollars per month, because that money is being paid to his corrupt cronies, because Americans and Iraqis are being killed and mutilated for no good reason, because he has violated our constitution (everything from separation of church and state to balance of power between the branches of government to undermining the Bill of Rights) and we protest because he tortures human beings and lies to us about it.

Also, one of our rights is to protest.

I hope that answers your question.

The president is not elected by a majority of people in the USA, in fact not even half the eligible voters even bother to vote. It he case of GW Bush he as elected by less than half the people that bothered to vote. So 3/4 of the US population didn't vote for him. I agree that if you don't vote you have less of a right to complain, but I did vote and not for Bush, and his decisions are bad for the USA and the world. It is our right to disagree with the government and our duty as American citizens to try and do something to change things for the better.

Because it is our right as Americans to dissent against the government - its part of the Bill of Rights. There are about 300 million Americans now - we definitely do NOT all share the same opinion about our government (especially now!). Thus, those that disagree with government policies can protest them.

Because unlike the people of some countries (China, Cuba, Canada) We can and the government can't do a thing about it.

By the way I support what the US is doing.

I understand you. I hate it too....

Bush is elected into office (by POPULAR VOTE second time around) and people go around saying he's the anti-christ (when everyone forgets taht the anti-christ is supposed to have GOOD grammar). People here in the US have it too good here, so they have no idea what problems REALLY are.

Because there are plenty of us who didn't even vote for the stupid bastard in the first place. Not all Americans think alike, and some of them apparently don't think at all.
