You know,,,it seems to be sore point for some people that dont agree with my question,,, however the true fact is, we are not as ecconomically sound as people are led to believe. Next year we will have another 2 countries coming over to the UK with tremendous financial cost & job loss to our country. THIS IS FACT & NOT A STUPID QUESTION !!!!

Yes it definately is. If we complain about people doing this we are racist! The country's gone mad. We British should walk around with mug stamped on our foreheads, all these immigrants certainly think we are!

I would go with perplexed music lover's reply. Also, on a purely technical point, have any of the people who are constantly whinging about the benefits allegedly paid out so easily, ever actually tried claiming them and, if successful, tried living on them? The free furnished council house and £150 a week are a fantasy and a delusion (i wonder how many dependent children you would need to be able to ever get them in reality) ... and the process of claiming and receiving is long, detailed and demeaning.
To prove how difficult it is to claim benefits you only have to look at the figures for the number of economically inactive (ie unemployed) people (ie non-immigrants) there are who do not even bother to claim benefits. Why do the bunch of racists who whinge on about benefits think that immigrants can get through the process any easier?

to dean: if you can't take the heat of the answers, don't ask a question that invites controversy and opinions from people with ideas diametrically opposed to yours. Your question is not silly, it just arouses passionate replies. However if you truly believe that the commonest question by immigrants is as you have stated then you must be silly in my opinion.

the whole question of immigration and the costs and benefits to this society and the one they have left behind is so complicated that it certainly cannot be summed up in the obvious racial prejudice you and many of your answerers display. If you want a more rational discussion then ask a question which is more reasonable and based on the facts and not on a common fantasy and delusion held by racists about immigrants.

With the figures just released that we have half a million registered immigrant people (that just being what we know about!) I would say that yes that is the most popular question in the UK. Along with "What is the Government thinking?!"

I'm sorry, but it is a bit of stupid question. But you probably can't help your racism, so I don't blame you. I blame your environment for the way you turned out.

No. I think the most commonly asked question would be...why are there so many anti-immigration racist bigots in this country?
