How about making your own pet? I once had an enathunt. It was basically a bit of fluff but it had feelings. One morning i came downstairs and it had escaped from its cage. I found it several days later in the rain, lying in the gutter. I brought it inside and had it on a drip for a week with barbed wire around its cage, but unfortunately it did not pull through. Still have fond memories of my enathunt.

I actually have a pet rabbit, and can say that they absolutely need to be able to exercise, and life in a cage is unsuitable. Look to the House Rabbit Society for more info.

Bunny or a guinea pig!
I have a bunny and it is the most adorable thing in the world.
My fren has a guinea pig who can play dead.
But if you have a bunny and you keep it inside, you have to clean its cage every day. But it's totally worth it.

P.S. I also have a fish who swims where i point. that's just probably cause he thinks it's food tho ^_^

P.P.S. My bunny is totally friendly and runs around my feet. She LOOOOOVES to be handled. She practically hops into my arms when i open the cage door.

I just got a betta - his name is Henry . :o) I love him- they bond to you and you can only get one so it isn't that hard to take care of - get a betta fish!!! And if you do, all you need is a MiniBow acrylic tank(comes with the filter), deocrations, gravel, water conditioner and the rest you can ask about at the store - not too expensive and he is so cute - he even lets me pet him.. haha :o)

Fish. Start with something simple like guppies till you get the hang of it then move on to more picky species.
