Mix a scoop of Oxyclean powder with water. Pour it on the stain and let it soak for about 5-15 mins. Then scrub it dry with paper towels. The stain should come right out.

The thing about sandy-coloured carpets is that they soak up everything that touches them, like a sponge. You'll be lucky if you can get the stains out. Also, beware of dark-coloured rugs on a pale carpet, as they tend to leave a rectangular mark of the same colour when removed.

I've spilt just about everything going on my sandy carpet including coffee, red wine, chilli and oil and I've managed to get every single stain out so far!

Over the years I've found 2001 and Vanish to be the best. Sometimes you have to make a couple of applications, but if you persist it will go.

Urinate on it, then rub in some tomato ketchup with a brillo pad. Leave for 6 months, and then buy a new darker coloured carpet, so you wont notice stains on it !

Hi if its still in powder form, and its just the vaccum issue--try tape wrapped around your fingers w/ sticky side out and get it out that way.

You could also try perrier--pour it on, let it sit and then let it soak into a towel or napkins
