Well,if you mean test tube that is a small glass container that is shaped like a tube and is used in chemistry!!!! :)

Test tube, I assume? A container shaped like a tube, in which you test things in. Pretty straightforward.
The tube itself I imagine came out of the need to place chemicals (and other fun things) inside the container, be able to change the heat of it evenly, immerse a solid in liquid without having to use much liquid, and see what's going on inside the whole time. As for the name, no idea. Not everything has one specific person responsible for naming it.
