Take multivitamins before sleeping or eat fish. Sleep is caused by iron. If you don't have iron, you can't sleep. Inhale, exhale and drink cool water because a higher body heat makes it more difficult to sleep. Drink milk, read books, etc. but these are not universal rules. WARNING: some people would be more awake if they read books even boring ones and drinking milk doesn't work.
So, if you want to get good sleep, make sure you have a healthy diet , cool off (bathing is good) and have peace of mind because this cools off the body and make sure you are comfortable in your bed.

First a look at the possible causes:
1) No physical exercise..and your body is just not tired enough to get you to sleep
2) Stress and tension: something is going on in your head thats bothering you...maybe it is about money, job, relationship, jealousy, health, family etc,. Until you get to handle it, you may find it difficult.
3) Maybe you are feeling lonely and need a partner to put you to sleep
4) Medication..some medication can cause this
5) Period
6) There could be other reasons for which you may have to see a doctor.
Coming to possible solutions:
1) Dont smoke within 3 hours of going to bed
2) Have dinner atleast 2 hours before sleep
3) Try to sleep at the same time everynight
4) Relax in bed (physically and mentally)
5) Listen to smooth music at a low volume
Hope this helps

well dear it is simple there are many ways to get a good nap.
Mainly you can not sleep because your mind is not calm if you can make your mind calm then sleep will of coz come to you.
So try meditating before you intend to sleep or if that is impossible just always think that you are going to get a good nap so then your subconscious mind will also tell the same thing rather it will adjust so that you will be able to sleep well.
And most important is that you should pray before sleeping so you can get a very peaceful nap
tc.

It works for me :
- Yoga with relaxing music 1-2 hours before you sleep
- Hot shower before bed.
- Take a banana before sleeping
Some non-additive drugs you can buy off the shelf:
- Melantonin : There are books saying it prolong youth
- Sleep starter by 21st Century brand
While in bed,
- read a boring text book until you feel sleepy.
- count sheeps
- chant something repeating like religious chant or auto suggestion. Must be a line only.
- Meditate while lying down

No caffeene or chocolate past 3pm. Make sure you get exercise during the day. No TV or computer while getting ready to sleep. Turn on a fan in your room..., drink a glass of warm milk..
Have you tried reading economics.., or physics? Always worked for me.

1. Read a book (boring ones)
2. Listen to slow soothing music
3. Watch the news or boring talk shows about current news (unless you enjoy that)
4. Close your eyes and think of nothing
5. Count sheeps or count your blessings

Relax all your muscles one at a time (slowly) starting from your feet and working up to your head - take about 5-10 minutes over it. When I do it I often don't make it to my head! ;)
Also try a warm bath about 30 minutes just before going to bed and / or a cup of warm milk / Horlicks etc.

yes, meditation, prayer, playing calming music, lavender: tea, incense, oil, and try humming yourself to sleep. If all else fails, go to the doc and get a prescription for ambien. it is habit forming, so take a half a pill, and only on the nights you cannot fall asleep.
