Written on the valve of most sport balls, it's suggested you moisten the needle before inflating. I use a liberal amount of water on the needle and I've found that after the 5th-8th inflation, the valve will begin to leak. There seems to be a limit to the number of times you can insert the needle.
Does anyone have a method or a suggestion to extend the life of a ball valve?
Thanks.

Please read the details, not just the subject.
I'm specifically asking if anyone moistens the needle and whether or not they apply water or oil/grease to the needle.
