Australia is a country a very beautiful country that is in the southern hemisphere and is one of the best places to come and see. Despite popular beliefs we are not country hicks we are civilised people and some of us are the top people in our trade. ie The body Elle McPherson. Nicole Kidman, to name a few. As an Australian I'm am rather hurt that you asked a question like this.

YOU IDIOT. Australia is a country, continent, and island. Geographically it's 96% the size of the United States, excluding Canada and Alaska. And no, I didn't make that up. For "Ken", we are not "country hicks".... America's the only place on Earth you can find genuine, wash-and-wear trailer trash.

Our population is about 22- 23 million.

tell me your joking. australia is the smallest continent on earth, also the biggest island on earth. also the driest continent. because australia is bigger than england (much bigger) it would have to be a massive city (if it was a city) and the population would be in the tens of billions. but..........its not a city, its a country, and it has the best beaches in the world

They say it is a country so I must agree with the majority. Actually country is not the proper term. Nation is a better word to use. Country has too many uses to be defined as a sovereign nation. Well in the case of the Aussies I would say they are country hicks.

WRONG to all.. It's not ONLY a Country... And a Continent.. it's ALSO an Island..

Do you see it attached to another land mass??? No.. it's all alone..
ISLAND...

I don't know why some of you have to be childish and assume someone is from another country.. just because of their Naivity or Ignorance.. frankly.. to the one who wanted to insult the Americans.. or "Our Neighbors" which would be either Mexicans or Canadians.. that is insulting.. and you are just proving my point that IGNORANCE and RUDENESS do not know just one country..
